GM is bringing back hybrid vehicles to the North American market, and the Chevy Equinox SUV might be the first one to get it. Citing recent words by the CEO of GM, Mary Barra, GM already has the technology and is considering bringing it to the US. Stay tuned with Key Motors of South Burlington.
Hybrid GM Vehicles Could Be On the Burlington, VT, Roads Soon
While the CEO did mention on an earnings call that the automaker plans to bring PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicles) to certain models, details are still vague. The last hybrid GM vehicle that Colchester area shoppers could buy was the Chevy Volt, discontinued after the 2019 model year.
In other markets, GM sells a PHEV that uses a 1.5-liter gas engine and a pair of electric motors. The automaker may choose to bring the powertrain into the United States as part of a PHEV lineup. The battery offers 9.5 kWh of power, and the total system output is 181 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque.
While we don't have any other details on GM PHEVs quite yet, we encourage interested Essex, VT, to reach out and ensure they stay current on the latest updates.
